Aims & objectives

Having recently purchased the practice in the past two years with my other two co-principals, we were keen to look at opportunities to make positive changes, and of course, make cost savings where possible given the significant investment we had all made in buying the practice.

The practice had offered Denplan since the early 90’s, and we had an established patient base of almost 1,500 plan patients. The overhead in administering our plans via Denplan was significant, and so we decided to explore alternative providers that could offer cost savings without negatively impacting our patient’s overall plan experience and benefits.

Why Patient Plan Direct?

PPD was recommended to us by another local practice that had moved their plan administration to work with PPD. We were naturally intrigued to find out more about PPD’s service approach, A&E assistance via their Global Dental Scheme, and their low admin fees – so we reached out to their team to arrange a meeting.

From the moment we contacted PPD it was clear their team was well-rehearsed in managing provider transfers. Janice, the head of their business development team, talked us through the process in detail and also explained how we could present and communicate the change in the best way to ensure patients responded positively and quickly – taking the necessary action to make for a smooth and pain-free transition for both our patient base and practice team.

When we did the maths we were shocked at just how much we could save! After thoroughly understanding the process, thanks to clear direction from the PPD team, and working with PPD to formulate the best way to communicate the change to our patients, we decided to make the move.

Our success

Having committed to a transfer at the beginning of 2021, we have had a phenomenal response from patients – we are on track for a very successful transfer with great retention rates.

The PPD team is always on hand to support us with every step. It’s great to be able to speak to the same members of the team every time we reach out and nothing is too much trouble. We have found the whole process much easier than we anticipated.

Our reception team loves the online administration portal, finding it very easy to use. They welcome less form-filling and find the sign-up process for new patients much quicker and simpler.

I would have no hesitation in recommending PPD. We are now benefiting from huge cost savings and feel well supported.
