We all like to think that our dental teams are happy and harmonious, but have you ever really checked? Even if you have the most cohesive team in the world, could you be doing even more to ensure the satisfaction of your staff on a daily basis? Here are our top tips to ensure your team is completely content and working efficiently on a daily basis…
Open your door
Have an open door policy and ensure that everyone knows they can speak to you about any matter at any time. This could be for general discussion, feedback, concerns, issues, ideas, anything at all! Your staff members have eyes and ears in different areas of the practice to you, so they will notice things that you might not. Be sure to act upon anything that is brought to you, this shows that you are serious about what each individual has to say and this will encourage them to speak up more often.
Staff meetings, notice boards, staff emails, or real conversations… However you choose to communicate your messages just make sure everyone is fully informed and up to date when it comes to the day-to-day running of your practice. Not only does this keep everyone happily in the loop, it will ensure that new ideas are implemented with limited hassle.
Spend time together
Regular team meetings are vital for updating everyone on practice progress, to get an idea from individuals about what is and isn’t working, and discuss and discover ways in which you can improve as a dental practice.
Socialising is also a great way to encourage team togetherness, try taking everyone out for lunch every so often – it is always a much-appreciated gesture!
Plan some fun
Life isn’t all about work! Aside from the traditional Christmas party, consider organising a summer outing that encourages the whole team to relax and have fun together. Close the practice for the day and go somewhere interesting or exciting. If you’re stuck for ideas, just ask the team!
